Stormy Morning at Burstall Pass

It was starting to rain! I was on the return leg of a hike with friends to Burstall Pass. As the first drops of rain began to fall, I had already packed away my camera, content that the morning’s light had passed. But then this view emerged — a sweeping alpine valley framed by brooding peaks and an unsettled sky, as if the land itself was holding its breath. I captured the moment using only my phone, quickly creating a panoramic image before the weather closed in.

What began as an impromptu snapshot became something much more — awarded Gold and named Best in Class in the Smartphone category by the Master Photographers International. This image is a reminder that magic doesn’t always wait for perfect conditions. Sometimes, it’s a fleeting alignment of light, land, and instinct that leaves a lasting impression.
