Bringing Path of the Glacier Home
This photograph is about scale and depth — layered ridgelines receding into the distance, each fold and contour shaped by the glacier that carved this valley in Jasper National Park. It’s a more contemplative image than some of our mountain prints, with a quiet grandeur that settles into a space rather than demanding attention.
The palette is predominantly green — rich, deep forest greens in the foreground, lighter sage and emerald on the sunlit ridges, with patches of snow and exposed rock adding contrast at the higher elevations. On fine art paper, the layered depth of the ridgelines reads beautifully, with each successive ridge slightly softer than the last. Canvas is a natural fit here — the texture complements the forest and rock, and the earthy tones feel grounded and organic. Metal or acrylic brings out the contrast between the sunlit band of trees and the shadowed valley, adding a crispness that accentuates the scale of the landscape.
