The Grand Canyon North Rim feels different from the South — quieter, more intimate, almost like it’s keeping its secrets for those who make the extra effort to get here. We stayed in one of the rustic little cabins perched near the edge, with the canyon stretching endlessly beyond. At sunset, the cliffs caught fire with shifting bands of colour, glowing orange and deepening purple as the light fell away.

That memory is now bittersweet. Many of those cabins, along with the historic lodge, were lost to a devastating fire. Knowing what has been taken makes these photographs all the more poignant — a record of a place as it once was, and of an evening we feel grateful to have experienced. This sunset wasn’t just about the view; it was about being held in a moment of beauty that is both fragile and fleeting.
