Dubrovnik at Dawn — Light Over the Adriatic
Dubrovnik's walled Old Town glows against the deep blue of the Adriatic in this pre-dawn view from the Mt Srd viewpoint, 412 metres above the city. The illuminated ramparts trace the medieval city's outline, with the old port and marina tucked inside the walls at left and the forested silhouette of Lokrum Island floating offshore. The sky and sea merge into matching tones of twilight blue, broken only by the warm light spilling from the ancient streets below.
This was a very early alarm call on our second morning in Croatia. We made the drive up to the Mt Srd viewpoint well before sunrise to catch the city at blue hour — that brief window when the artificial lights of the Old Town balance perfectly against the fading night sky. It was cold and quiet up on the ridge, but the view was worth every lost minute of sleep. We stayed until the light shifted, working through compositions as the colour slowly changed around us, before heading back down to photograph the Franjo Tuđman Bridge and Fort Lovrijenac in the soft light that followed.

Korčula Old Town — Stone Streets and Adriatic Stories
Croatia’s Adriatic coastline is filled with places that feel suspended between history and sea. From the ancient walls of Dubrovnik to the quieter island harbours of Šipan and Korčula, each location carries its own atmosphere — shaped by stone, light, and centuries of life along the water. These photographs were created during early mornings and late evenings, when the crowds faded and the coastline settled into a calmer rhythm.
The images in this collection explore both the grandeur and stillness of the region. Fortresses rise directly from the sea, bridges disappear into blue hour light, and small harbours glow softly beneath fading skies. In Korčula, narrow stone streets and historic architecture reveal the quieter side of Croatia’s coastal cities, while the islands offer moments of stillness away from the busier ports.
Together, these photographs reflect the timeless character of the Adriatic — a landscape where history and atmosphere remain deeply connected.
